Stay in Uganda Mutolere
29 March bis 16 April 2023
Passengers: Marliese Arns, Michael Arns, Christian Baumeister, David Baumeister
- Men's workshop from April 3rd to April 5th, a total of 9 men, 3 Germans and 6 Ugandans.
It was a great success with the theme: Brotherhood of Men
- Conference on April 8th with Mister Jonas Sunday, Mister Pontius Mayunga, Michael and Marliese Arns, we discussed the start of the Ubuntu School in May '23.
The Ubuntu School is now a government registered and approved organization.
Kitchen, toilets, gate house are finished and approved by government inspectors.
Comment: This school is more than prepared.
The playground is being prepared, a garden is being created, and rabbits and chickens will also live in the garden. This gives the children the opportunity to learn how to handle animals at an early age.
- April 11, 2023 Meeting with John Paul, our architect. The foundation for the tent has been made, the tent will be delivered by mid-May. The school children are thus protected from heat, rain and wind. Here's a thank you to the sponsors! There are already 10 children on the waiting list for the baby and middle class.
- Visits to St. George's Primary School, St. Paul's and St. Gertrud's Secondary Schools as part of our sponsorship program.
- We celebrated the Easter holidays together with the hospital community.
- Of course, we also attended the Saturday Hope meeting for needy children (currently around 600 children):
Singing with the children, dancing, drumming, living in community.
We brought clothes and shoes from Germany to distribute.
- We brought 1,500 surgical face masks to the hospital, meaning that around 9,000 masks came to Uganda in one year.
- A festival will take place on July 15th. Marliese Arns has been coming to Mutolere/Uganda several times a year for 20 years. Around 150 invitations have been issued, and many new and old companions will be there.
- Many friends and acquaintances from the area have visited us, the sponsored children and children always come of their own accord. The relationship with the children and adults is warm, many bring us gifts, which is very important for the local people. It is often difficult for us to accept gifts from these poor people.
